Open House at the Sutton Sunshine Center

At this time last week, I had some fun ideas for activities that would bring to participants a strong sense of being in the Now moment and a space in which to feel the presence of their I AM - or Divine Self. One week later, I have a space in which to offer these activities, and thanks to Shaumbra Louise in Ste. Hyacinthe, Quebec, I have a brochure with information about these activities in both French and English. I wrote the English version and Louise translated it for me into French. I'll post the brochure on here in PDF format if I can within the next day or so.

The space is a beautiful new spa and health center in Sutton village called the Sunshine Center (Centre Soleil). It was created by a woman named Ilia Kavoukis. You can check out the website at http://www.sunshinecenter.ca/

I will be offering these activities on Sunday mornings for 8 weeks. Each activity will last for about 90 minutes. Each will begin with about 30 minutes of stretching, strengthening and breathing exercises which bring us into our bodies and calm our minds, preparing us for the activities that follow. They also strengthen our core (abdominals and back muscles) and strengthen the muscles that support our joints - knees, hips, ankles, spine and neck, shoulders - which helps us to remain flexible and limber as the years go by. I have been doing these exercises since I first discovered them in a book in the library at Trent University 30 years ago, sometime in 1980! The book was called, What it Takes to Feel Good, and I found that after doing these exercises, I did feel good. So I kept doing them over the years, sometimes more and sometimes less, but I never totally gave them up. They felt too good! Now, I do them about 3 times each week and they have helped me in the past 6 months to deal with various aches and pains in my body and especially with the lower back pain which used to plague me terribly.

Apart from these exercises, the activities are Group Sounding, Drumming Circle, Improvisational Drama, and Improvisational Dance / Movement. These 4 separate activities, each one offering an experience of self-expression in the Now, will be repeated once, for a total of 8 weeks of activities. There will be guest facilitators for the Drumming Circle and the Improvisational Dance / Movement.

I'm offering these activities because I know that we can find joy, truth and love only in the present moment. We read often of the Now. We speak of it. It is mysterious and wonderful and sometimes seems somewhat unattainable in our busy lives. We may practice being in the Now in our own selves, but we do not often participate in group activities that invite us into the Now. This program, called simply, In the Moment, offers this experience to participants. I am joyful and happy to be able to offer it!

The Sunshine Center in Sutton village is having an Open House - introducing all that is on offer there - on September 10 and 11, 2010. That is a Friday and a Saturday. I'll be there on Saturday afternoon to offer a taste of my In the Moment program of activities.

I hope that you can come to the Open House! Regardless of whether you can come or not, I offer you all the blessings that you can imagine for yourself!

Namaste!

In the beginning....

I have decided to share my thoughts, my poems and some of the inspiring words that I read with whomever would like to take the time to read my blog.

Today, I created the space in which this offering can be made. Tomorrow, I will begin to post blog entries that reflect my process of being and becoming in the miraculous and abundant world that surrounds me.
